Key Clubs and Builders Clubs Encourage
Youth Community Involvement

As part of the Kiwanis International community, our club is encouraged to provide opportunities for youth to get involved in service projects and to develop leadership skills. The primary way in which this is carried out is through sponsorship of Key Clubs in area high schools and Builders Clubs in middle schools. Our club currently sponsors Key Clubs at Dobyns-Bennett High School and Sullivan South High School. We also sponsor a Builders Club at Robinson Middle School and a new club, the Greater Kingsport Builder's Club,  at the Boys & Girls Club of Kingsport. Each club has a staff sponsor that helps facilitate local club operation.

Our Key Club Committee has responsibility for ensuring the sponsored clubs are active in their respective schools/clubs. The Committee looks for opportunities for the clubs to participate in our service projects as well as encouraging the clubs to adopt service projects of their own. The young people involved with the Key and Builders Clubs get to enjoy accomplishing their own service projects as well as developing some leadership skills in the process. Many Kiwanians and community leaders get started down the path of service through a Key Club or Builders Club experience.
